Meet our Director
As the Director of KIDS Family Day Care, my passion for early childhood education has been shaped by over 20 years of practical experience across a range of roles within the sector. My journey began as an educator, working hands-on with children and families to deliver quality care, and evolved into leadership positions where I managed programs, developed curriculum, and provided strategic guidance to education and care services.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to lead in various settings, from small family daycare services to larger early childhood programs. I’ve gained valuable insights into the practical challenges educators face and the evolving needs of children and families. This experience allows me to take a hands-on approach in my leadership at KIDS Family Day Care, ensuring that our educators are supported with the right resources, guidance, and training to deliver the highest standard of care.
At KIDS Family Day Care, our approach is deeply influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which emphasises child-centered learning and community involvement. I believe that every child is a capable and curious learner, and our programs are designed to harness that curiosity. By offering tailored learning experiences based on each child’s interests, developmental needs, and the strengths of our educators, we create an environment that promotes exploration and discovery. My leadership focuses on fostering these experiences through activities like arts and crafts, community engagement, and structured play that encourages problem-solving and creativity.
One of the most significant aspects of my work has been helping educators build strong, nurturing relationships with the children in their care. From my early days as an educator, I’ve understood how vital these bonds are for both learning and emotional well-being. I’ve trained educators to be keen observers and responsive facilitators, ensuring that each child feels seen, heard, and valued. This secure attachment provides the foundation for children to explore the world confidently, knowing they are supported by their educator.
Throughout my career, I’ve also led initiatives to promote professional development within teams, equipping educators with tools to continuously improve their practice. By empowering them to deliver programs that are both challenging and responsive, I ensure we maintain a high-quality, child-centered learning environment.
Ultimately, my goal as Director is to provide children and families with an enriching, safe, and stimulating environment where every child can reach their full potential, and where educators feel empowered and valued in the important role they play in shaping young lives.
